My Health is Perfect”: Trump Deflects Scrutiny Amid Growing Vitality Questions

Washington, USA — January 3, 2026

In a characteristic display of defiance, President Donald Trump has dismissed recent inquiries regarding his physical health, following a series of public appearances that have sparked intense speculation across Washington.

Addressing reporters this week, the 79-year-old President flatly refused to engage with mounting concerns about his stamina, instead doubling down on his assertion that he is in “perfect” condition and possesses “exceptional” genetic resilience.

A “Blink,” Not a Nap: The President Responds

The latest wave of scrutiny follows several televised events where the President appeared to have his eyes closed for extended periods.

During a wide-ranging interview with the Wall Street Journal that has set the tone for the new year, Trump addressed these “drowsy” moments by insisting he was simply “resting his eyes” or caught in a poorly timed photograph.

“I’ll just close [my eyes]. It’s very relaxing to me,” the President explained.

“Sometimes they’ll take a picture of me blinking, blinking, and they’ll catch me with the blink.”

He further pushed back against rumors of hearing loss, claiming he only struggles to hear “when there’s a lot of people talking” at once, a sentiment he dismissed as a common environmental issue rather than a medical one.

The Aspirin Revelation and “Thin Blood”

One of the more startling details to emerge from recent briefings is the President’s admission that he actively ignores the advice of his medical team regarding daily medication.

Trump confirmed that he takes a high dose of aspirin—325 milligrams daily—despite doctors recommending a lower dose to minimize the risk of internal bleeding.

Key points from the President’s health defense:

Superstitious Habits:

Trump admitted he has been taking the high-dose aspirin for 25 years and is “superstitious” about changing the routine.

 The “Thin Blood” Theory:

“I don’t want thick blood pouring through my heart,” Trump stated. “I want nice, thin blood. Does that make sense?”

Visible Bruising:

The White House has attributed visible bruising on the President’s hands to a combination of this high aspirin intake and “frequent handshaking” on the global stage.

A Year of Medical Mystery

The refusal to provide more transparent health data follows a year of mixed signals from the White House. In July 2025, the administration confirmed the President had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition that causes blood to pool in the legs.

While Trump briefly experimented with compression socks to treat the resulting swelling, he revealed this week that he has since discarded them because he “didn’t like them.”

Furthermore, confusion surrounded a medical visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in October. While Trump initially described the procedure as an MRI, he later corrected the record, stating it was a CT scan.

He expressed regret that the screening was made public at all, noting that the “advanced imaging” served only to fuel what he calls “fake news” narratives about his fitness for office.

Global Leadership and the Age Factor

As the oldest sitting president in U.S. history, Trump’s health is no longer just a domestic concern but a matter of international security.

For a leader who prides himself on a “confrontational and high-energy” foreign policy—most recently seen in a hoarse-voiced Oval Office exchange where he admitted to “shouting” at trade negotiators—any sign of physical decline is viewed by allies and rivals alike as a potential shift in American posture.

Despite the critics, the White House physician, U.S. Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, released a memo asserting that the President remains in “exceptional health” with a “cardiac age” of 65. For now, the President appears content to let his golf game and his public outbursts serve as his primary medical charts.
