The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced in a statement on Sunday that Minister Badr Abdel Ati received a phone call from his Somali counterpart Ahmed Moallem Faki to brief him on the results of the tripartite summit recently held in the Turkish capital between Somalia, Ethiopia and Turkey.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page: “Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of foreign affairs and migration, received on Saturday evening a phone call from Ahmed Moallem Faki, Minister of foreign affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
She added : “the communication dealt with the distinguished strategic relations between Egypt and Somalia, the mutual keenness to develop bilateral relations in all political, economic and trade fields to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly countries and build on the momentum witnessed by Egyptian – Somali relations during the recent period, as well as follow-up to the results of the tripartite summit held in Asmara between the presidents of Egypt, Somalia and Eritrea on October 10, 2024.
She continued: “the minister of foreign affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia briefed the minister of Foreign Affairs and migration on the outcomes of the recently held Ankara tripartite summit between Somalia, Turkey and Ethiopia, where the minister of foreign affairs of Somalia stressed his country’s commitment to respect Somali sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, which Minister Abdel Ati assured, stressing Egypt’s full support to the federal government in brotherly Somalia, in combating terrorism and achieving security and stability.
“The two ministers agreed to continue joint coordination and prepare for the tripartite ministerial meeting between the foreign ministers of Egypt, Somalia and Eritrea in implementation of the directives of the political leaders of the three countries to support coordination and consultation on regional issues of common interest, “she concluded.
