Washington D.C. – The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that it has reached the congressionally mandated cap for H-1B visas for the fiscal year 2025.
As of December 2, 2024, USCIS received enough petitions to reach the 65,000 H-1B visa regular cap and the 20,000 H-1B visa U.S. advanced degree exemption. This marks the beginning of a new cycle for the popular work visa program.
The H-1B visa program allows U.S. businesses to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations, such as technology, engineering, and healthcare. The program is highly sought after, with many U.S. companies relying on H-1B visas to attract and retain top talent from around the world.
USCIS has notified petitioners with selected registrations that they are eligible to file an H-1B cap-subject petition. Petitioners with selected registrations can file H-1B cap-subject petitions starting April 1, 2024.
This development is significant for U.S. businesses and foreign workers alike, as it marks the beginning of a new cycle for the H-1B visa program.
USCIS will close the initial registration period for the fiscal year 2025 H-1B cap at noon (ET) on Monday, March 24.
