NASA ASTRONAUT SUNITA WILLIAMS RETURNS TO EARTH AFTER 9-MONTH ISS MISSION

Date:

Florida, USA – NASA astronaut Sunita Williams has safely returned to Earth, marking the end of her remarkable 9-month mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

Williams, along with fellow astronauts Butch Wilmore, Nick Hague, and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov, landed off the coast of Florida at approximately 3:27 am IST on March 19, 2025. The successful splashdown of the SpaceX Dragon capsule concludes the Crew-9 mission.

During her extended stay on the ISS, Williams demonstrated remarkable adaptability and dedication to her work. Initially, her mission was planned for a week, but due to propulsion issues with the Boeing Starliner spacecraft, her stay was prolonged.

Throughout her time in space, Williams prioritized her physical health, maintaining a strict exercise regimen to combat muscle atrophy and bone loss caused by microgravity.

The astronauts will undergo medical checks before being flown to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston for rehabilitation.
